Curtain Call: How to Clean and Care for your Curtains

Caring for your made-to-measure curtains is easier than you might think- and a little attention goes a long way in keeping them looking beautiful for years to come.

Keeping Your Curtains Clean

To maintain the quality and finish of your curtains, we always recommend professional dry cleaning. You’ll find a handy care label stitched into the side hem of each curtain, so you can double-check the best cleaning method whenever you need to!

Between cleans, a quick freshen-up is all it takes. To keep your curtains looking fresh between cleans, you can use the upholstery brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner to gently remove dust and maintain brightness.

Helping Your Curtains Drape Beautifully

Want that gorgeous, professional drape right from the start? A little “dressing” after installation makes all the difference.

If you have a steamer, lightly steam the fabric from top to bottom to ease out any creases- just be careful not to over-steam or let the fabric become too damp. No steamer? No worries. A gentle steam setting on your iron will do the trick too. Once the fabric is warm and softened, pull your curtains into position, spacing the pleats evenly and smoothing each one with your hands so they fall naturally. Avoid touching the face fabric directly.

Set the Perfect Shape

After you’ve shaped the pleats, secure them with fabric strips or tiebacks. Leaving your curtains tied for at least 48 hours helps the folds set beautifully, ensuring they hang neatly and retain their elegant drape over time.

With just a few simple steps, your curtains will look expertly finished- bringing style, warmth, and a polished feel to your home!
